Pic of the Day – Posthumous Silver Star

Chief of Staff of the Air Force Gen. Norton Schwartz presents Trey Powers and Lindsey Berry a Silver Star posthumously awarded to their grandfather Capt. Francis Gary Powers during a ceremony at the Pentagon June 15, 2012. Powers received the award for the heroism he displayed when the U-2 aircraft he was flying over the former Soviet Union was shot down May 1, 1960, and he was held in a Soviet prison for more than 100 days.
