This most famous of all photographs of Winston Churchill was taken on 30 December 1941 by Yousef Karsh for the cover of Life Magazine. The story goes that Churchill was not cooperating with the photographer who reached out and snatched Churchill’s cigar away which brought a glower to the great man’s face and the photographer snapped the picture at that moment.
