Pic of the Day – Flight Launch

PACIFIC OCEAN (Oct. 29, 2011)- An F/A-18E Super Hornet from the “Eagles” of Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA) 115 launches off the flight deck of the nuclear-powered aircraft carrier USS George Washington (CVN 73). George Washington is currently participating in Annual Exercise (ANNUALEX) 2011, a Japan-sponsored bilateral field-training exercise. ANNUALEX is designed to allow the US and Japan to practice and evaluate the coordination procedures and interoperability elements required to effectively and mutually respond to the defense of Japan, to a regional crisis or contingency situation in the Asia-Pacific region, while building bilateral confidences and working relationships.
