While on a visit to Nazi Germany after his abdication as Edward VIII, the Duke and Duchess of Windsor was squired around by the drunken and almost retarded head of the German Labor Front, Robert Ley (pronounced ‘lie’). Ley had taken the wheel of his huge Mercedes-Benz from his chauffeur. He wished to show the couple the barracks built for workers at a factory. Unfortunately the factory was closed and the heavy gates locked. Ley didn’t let that little fact stop him. He simply drove at full speed through the gates.
