U-Boat Bases and Bunkers: La Pallice: After the war, the French Navy salvaged U-766 from the bunker where it had been in residence when the Germans surrendered. U-766 served in the French Navy as the Laubie where she was accidentally rammed on three separate occasions before being decommissioned in 1963 (once by a destroyer, once by a liner, and once by another French submarine).
