U-Boat Bases and Bunkers: Hamburg: The Fink II U-Boat Bunker was attacked on 9 April 1945 by seventeen Lancaster bombers carrying fifteen Tallboy five ton bombs and two Grand Slam ten ton bombs – six of the seventeen bombs hit the bunker. Though the roof was penetrated, the majority of the damage was from the pressure wave that occurred (not the actual explosion) causing minor damage to the surfaced U-Boats within the bunker and sinking the floating dry-dock with 2 U-Boats on it. U-677 and U-982 were both submerged within the bunker and remained relatively unharmed.
