U-Boat Bases and Bunkers: Kiel: The Kilian U-Boat Bunker was attacked on 9 April 1945 during a massive bombing raid that sank the German pocket battleship Admiral Scheer. A near miss blew off the protective doors of the bunker and the pressure wave from the blast lifted the small Type XXIII U-4708 into the air and smashed it against the side of the pen causing such damage to the ship that she sank almost immediately.
