U-19 served in the Black Sea from January 1943 through September 1944. U-19 was still on patrol when the Germans evacuated Konstanza and as her fuel dwindled, the Germans tried to sell her to the Turkish government who declined the offer. Consequently, the Germans headed for the Turkish coast and scuttled U-19 near Erekli on 10 September 1944 when she ran out of fuel.
